Meet Ben Kassanoff, MD, Vascular and Interventional Radiologist

How, when and why did you decide to pursue a career in medicine?

I decided to pursue a career in medicine during college. I was a math major at Duke University and thought I would teach at the college level. When I realized that I might spend my life working on formulae, alone, in a small sequestered office, I thought “I like interacting with people too much for this!” So, I finished my pre-med requirements and applied to med school.

What do you like most about your job? 

I love the people I get to work with every day. They are motivated, caring, and hilarious!

What is your favorite way to spend free time (away from work)? 

I enjoy spending time in the mountains where I bike, ski, and read. When I pass though the Eisenhower tunnel, my systolic blood pressure immediately drops by 20 mmHg!

What do you like most about working at RIA? 

I love the culture of sharing and the sense of teamwork. We share a common mission of compassion and excellence, and work to make our community contribution something truly exceptional.
