Kathryn, ultrasound technologist at RIA Endovascular, shares her thoughts on her love of sonography and working at RIA.
How, when and why did you decide to pursue a career in medicine?
I decided to pursue a career in sonography when I was 16. My dad suggested it as a great way to combine my passion for people with my natural science and math abilities. It really is the perfect “active nerd” career. I have been a sonographer for 15 years, and not a single day has been boring! I love how every patient I meet has a unique story.
What is your favorite way to spend free time?
My favorite free-time activity is cooking and baking. Food is such a huge part of a fun and healthy life! I am always trying to develop healthier versions of my favorite comfort foods, which can be challenging since I grew up in North Carolina, where butter and barbecue reign supreme.
What do you like most about working at RIA?
Working at RIA has been an incredible experience, because the doctors are such fantastic collaborators. There is universal respect and value for the different experiences that each employee brings.
