Patient Stories: Immediate Pain Relief for Greg L.

I have been diagnosed with myeloma, which causes my bones to become brittle. I was sent to RIA Endovascular to see if anything could be done with my seven vertebral body fractures. I was told Dr. Tony Brown is the best of the best when it comes to the severity of my condition.

Dr. Brown ended up performing a SpineJack procedure to two of my vertebral fractures and kyphoplasty to five other vertebral bodies. I also had severe bone loss and fractures to my sacrum. The same week as the first procedure, I went in for Dr. Brown and Dr. Dan Lerman (orthopedic surgeon with Colorado Limb Consultants) to collaborate and rebuild my sacrum and stabilize my pelvis. They used three screws and medical cement to make this happen.

The amazing part of these procedures was the immediate pain relief. My body had to readjust, because I got at least 1.25 inches back to my height. I actually have had to work on training my body to get used to walking and standing up straight. The important part of the story is that while I am working gaining strength, I am pretty much pain-free!

Dr. Brown’s bedside presence was down to earth. He carefully explained things in layman’s terms. It is very obvious that not only does he know what he is doing, but he truly cares for his patients.
