This year, in lieu of our traditional potluck company holiday gathering, Radiology Imaging Associates and Invision Sally Jobe will be giving a monetary donation to Food Bank of the Rockies.
Our donation will provide 6,000 nutritious meals for families facing hunger!
While we will miss our annual Thanksgiving potluck, we are excited to be giving hope and much needed nutrition to so many Colorado families.
Food Bank of the Rockies is the largest private hunger-relief organization in Colorado and Wyoming. Founded in 1978, the organization provides food and essentials to people in need across 30 counties in northern Colorado and the entire state of Wyoming.
In collaboration with our community, including nearly 800 hunger relief partners, they work together to ensure more than half a million people struggling with food insecurity have access to nutritious food. We have seen a tremendous increase in need across Colorado and Wyoming as a result of COVID-19, and that need has been consistent since March. A new survey shows 1 in 7 people and 1 in 5 children are facing food insecurity in Colorado, and 1 in 6 people and 1 in 4 children are facing food insecurity in Wyoming.
Food Bank of the Rockies is meeting this demand head-on. 96.5% of their total contributions are directly invested in programs to help those in need. Since March of this year, when the pandemic hit our region, they have distributed 71 million pounds of food. That is enough food for 59 million meals. Their monthly food distribution volume has increased by 59% over the same period last year, with some months, more than 80% over pre-COVID-19 levels. Right now, they are distributing enough food to provide more than 250,000 meals daily.
