Our services include the full spectrum of minimally invasive interventional procedures. Hemorrhoid embolization is an excellent, minimally invasive treatment for symptomatic grade I-III internal hemorrhoids.
What is hemorrhoid embolization?
Hemorrhoid embolization is an excellent, minimally invasive treatment for symptomatic grade I-III internal hemorrhoids. It is an outpatient procedure performed in our office-based lab or in a hospital setting. The procedure time is approximately one to two hours and is performed with moderate sedation. A transradial approach is used in order to reduce complications. The procedure technique includes embolization of the superior rectal +/- middle rectal arteries, sparing the inferior rectal artery.
Why would you need a hemorrhoid embolization?
This procedure is effective for bleeding hemorrhoids but can also relieve other symptoms. It is optimal for patients who failed or cannot undergo endoscopic therapies and therefore are being considered for surgery but can be used for any patient.
